Get Kim K Smokey Eyes a la 2011 VMA’s!

Kim Kardashian’s (now Mrs. Humphries) lashes are almost as infamous as the socialite herself.  Spiky dramatic lashes are on trend for Fall/Winter 2011, and Kim is ahead of the curve.  Spotted on the black carpet at the MTV VMAs in a gorgeous Kaufman Franco metallic full length gown with a stunning purple smokey eye and her trademark fabulicious lashes.

This fall give the traditional smokey eye a twist by trying it in a jewel tone.  Keeping the look fun and fresh, metallic colors and shimmers will have you looking like the life of the party.  We always recommend doing your smokey eye makeup first.  Leaving the face portion of your makeup for afterwards will guarantee you a cleaner look.

For the eye, we love the Urban Decay 15 Year Anniversary Eye Shadow Collection, it’s the perfect palette of jewel tones.

Start with a primer on your lid, and set it with a transluscent or matte eyeshadow.  By setting your primer , you protect your makeup from smudging and create a solid base so that your colors POP!  Applyyour colors of choice, remember for a smokey eye you want the darkest color near your lash line.  By blending the darker color up into the highlighter on your brow bone, you create that “smokey” appearance. With a smokey eye everything you do to the top lid you want to do on the bottom, so smoke out along your bottom lid as well!  Finish with black liner across the top lid and in your water line.

We ❤ Blink Gel/Liquid Liner! Specially formulated for use with your eyelash extensions and glides on oh-so-smooth!

Now, for our favourite part, the finishing touch is of course the lashes!  To get Kim’s phenomenal lash line, we recommend alternating sizes of lash extensions. To achieve a spiky look, try going with a thick long size of lash placed alongside a thinner and slightly shorter lash, this creates our “Babydoll” look.  The contrast between the lash sizes will give you that fabulous spiky full look.  To really amp it up just for a night, place a faux lash overtop.  Look for the same qualities in the faux lash; uneven legths with varying thickness makes the perfect dramatic lash.  Our fabulous faux lash “Trust Fun, Baby” was inspired by the lashionista herself.

Finish the look with a a clean face and subtle lip.  Fake Kim’s post-honeymoon glow by dusting a highlighter across the apples of your cheeks. We love Benefit’s Bella Bamba. Paired with a nude lip or clear glass and the look is complete.

There you have it, a smokey eye with a lot of lashes and a little highlighter you’ll be set to stun the paparazzi- Kim K style.
